Play Condition Service
What Is a Play Condition Service?
Our student instrument servicing in Wollongong includes the Play Condition Service, designed for instruments that play, but not reliably.
It addresses localised issues such as sticking keys, small leaks or noise, without dismantling the entire instrument. This service is structured to stabilise performance between major services.
A Play Condition Service is not intended to rebuild or fully recondition an instrument. It is a structured, limited intervention designed to maintain consistent performance between Comprehensive Services. Where broader wear, contamination, or instability is present, a higher level of servicing will be recommended.
What This Service Includes
- Limited, localised repairs only
- Strict time limit
- Clear replacement limits on parts
- Designed to improve reliability, not restore the instrument
What This Service Doesn't Include
A Play Condition Service does not include full washing, deep cleaning or sanitising of the instrument.
It also does not address widespread wear, multiple leaks, or underlying issues that require full disassembly.
When Is this Service Suitable?
A Play Condition Service is suitable when an instrument generally plays, but has localised issues that affect reliability.
This service is commonly appropriate every 6 to 12 months for regularly played instruments that have received a Comprehensive Service within the last three years.
It is not suitable if the instrument requires full cleaning, widespread repairs, or has multiple underlying issues that require a Comprehensive Service.
Limits & Escalation
A Play Condition Service has strict limits.
If these limits are exceeded, the service stops and the instrument is escalated to a Comprehensive Service. This is deliberate and non-negotiable.
Parts & Pricing Policy
The Play Condition Service is a labour based service.
Replacement parts such as pads, corks, felts and springs are charged separately if required, within the limits of this service.
