The book of Microjazz Saxophone Duets by Christopher Norton is based on the concept of graded pieces in popular styles. It contains a set of rhythmically orientated pieces.

Suitable for 2 alto saxophones or 1 alto 1 tenor saxophone.

In addition, a suggestion for optional rhythmic backing has been given at the beginning of each piece. This can be played or tapped (perhaps by the teacher) and encapsulates the rhythmic style of the piece. It can also be programmed into a drum machine.

These pieces shouldn’t be taken too fast. Each piece has a well-defined character and accurate performance should reveal the nature of each duets to performers and listeners alike.
