The Pathway course forms a clearly-explained guide to music theory which introduces concepts in a logical and sequential progression. Exercises and revision reinforce the learning of the student. It is both a resource for understanding written music and a reference for practical performance work.
ANZCA Pathway to Grade One
Pathway to Grade One is the second book in the series which continues the clear, concise but comprehensive style of Pathway to Preliminary.
Building on the foundation established in Pathway to Preliminary, this book is a comprehensive guide to the requirements for the ANZCA Grade One Theory exam.
Contents
Pathway to Grade One contains four sections:
- Pitch, letter names, note values, rhythm and time signatures;
- Tones and semitones, scales and signs;
- Intervals and chords;
- Transposition and terms.
Each section concludes with a revision test. Furthermore, the book contains a glossary which summarises the Grade One requirements with concise descriptions and explanations.
The final section of the book has four test papers in the format and style of actual ANZCA exams. Try to finish each paper within one hour, without looking back through the book.
Both the revision sections and the test papers include marks to help assess your standard and progeress. Be sure to research your previous work and take care to accurately read and answer questions to avoid losing marks.
