About the Composer
Franz Anton Hoffmeister (1754-1812) was an unusually productive composer. Included in his numerous compositions are more than 350 works for flute solo and for flute in various combinations. In addition to being a composer, Hoffmeister was also known as a prominent music publisher. In that capacity, he was acquainted with composers such as Mozart, Beethoven and Pleyel.
Hoffmeister’s large output for the flute was very popular; this being clearly indicated by the many prints that were in circulation.
