Description

The JodyJazz HR* Clarinet Mouthpiece is a warm-sounding, free-blowing clarinet mouthpiece that allows the player to play through the registers with ease while maintaining excellent intonation and a great sound.

What is the Jody Jazz HR* Clarinet Mouthpiece?

The mouthpieces are made in Jody Jazz’s Savannah, Georgia factory from German rod rubber, on our state of the art CNC machines, and then meticulously hand-finished. Every mouthpiece is measured, inspected, and play tested by Jody Espina (the president and founder of Jody Jazz) or one of our professional players on staff.

Free blowing means less resistance when you blow into the mouthpiece, therefore more efficiency of energy, allowing the player more flexibility, comfort, and nuance.

The HR* clarinet mouthpiece joins the legendary HR* Series of saxophone mouthpieces that have become one of the most beloved jazz mouthpieces in the world.

The ‘Once’ (11) Mouthpiece

The new HR* Clarinet ‘Once’ (pronounced roughly as “on-say”) model has been developed in response to requests from the Banda Music community for an HR* Clarinet mouthpiece with an even larger tip opening than the 10 model which was previously the largest tip opening available. The new HR* Clarinet ‘Once’ model has the largest tip opening of any commercially available clarinet mouthpiece on the market. ‘Once’ is the Spanish word for 11. Because so many clarinetists in the Banda community have already made the HR* Clarinet series their preferred mouthpiece, it seemed only natural to name this new 11 tip opening the ‘Once’ in their honor. Even with this very large tip opening the HR* Clarinet ‘Once’ is still very easy to play. The new ‘Once’ model will give you the biggest sound of your life and make playing the clarinet more comfortable since you will have as much volume as you need.

Important: large tip openings normally require the player to use a much softer reed than lower tip openings. Most players use 1.5-2.5 reed strength with tip openings 6-11.
