Small Repairs
What Are Small Repairs?
Our instrument repairs in Wollongong include structures Small Repairs designed to fix up to 3 clearly identified, local faults on an otherwise playable instrument.
They are designed to fix specific problems only, without broader servicing, preventative work, or condition-based improvement.
What This Service Includes
A Small Repair includes assessment of the identified fault(s) and a targeted repair to restore function.
Common examples include:
- a misaligned key
- a stuck slide or valve
- a neck or tenon recork
- a minor mechanical adjustment
- replacement of a small component such as a spring, cork, or felt
All faults must be identified upfront and resolved independently, with a clear stop once fixed.
These instrument repairs in Wollongong are limited in scope and designed for clearly defined, localised faults only.
What This Service Doesn't Include
A Small Repair does not include:
- servicing or preventative work
- cleaning, washing, or sanitising
- system-wide regulation
- work intended to improve overall reliability
- damage repair beyond the scope of a Small Repair
If the repair moves beyond the identified fault(s), or if broader reliability issues are present, the instrument may require a Play Condition Service or Comprehensive Service.
When Is This Service Suitable?
Small Repairs are suitable when:
- the fault(s) are clearly identified and localised
- the instrument is otherwise mechanically sound
- the work has a clear and finite scope
They are not suitable if the instrument has:
- ongoing or widespread issues
- reliability problems across multiple systems
- not been serviced for an extended period and requires stabilisation
Parts & Pricing Policy
Small Repairs are charged as labour, based on the time and scope required.
Replacement parts are charged separately if required.
If the repair cannot be completed cleanly within the intended scope, we will stop and recommend the appropriate next service before proceeding.
Small Repairs are intentionally limited in scope. They are not a substitute for structured servicing, and they do not address underlying mechanical instability or long-term wear.
